Sound Therapy: How to Heal Your Mind and Body with Frequencies with Avi Sherbill
Did you ever wonder what sound therapy is and how to heal your mind and body with frequencies? Well, today’s your lucky day because I asked sound practitioner and empowerment coach Avi Sherbill from SoundRx to share his insights on the subject.

My sense of hearing is one of my most developed physical and spiritual senses. Because of this, shamanic drums, ASMR videos, healing frequencies, binaural beats or any other sounds have always helped me center and focus my energy. For this reason, I’m quite sensitive to the power of sounds, especially in their ability to heal the mind and body.
About a year ago, I started following Avi Sherbill of SoundRx on Instagram. He’s a sound healer and relationship coach helping people heal, detox and find the love they deserve. His mission, as well as his educational and inspiring content highly resonated with me.
Because the Living Simplyy blog is all about amplifying other light worker’s visions and energies, I wanted to introduce you to Avi’s world and share with you his passion. Read ahead!
Hi there Avi! Thank you so much for being here today. Can you describe yourself and what you do for a living?

I’m happy to be here. For those that don’t know me, I am a musician, a sound practitioner, and a relationship coach. I offer sound healing sessions, train people in becoming sound practitioners, and have a relationship detox program called #YOU100.
I have a decade-long background in music production but came to sound healing about five years ago. It was and is the most profound realization in my life, how sound can be used to create harmony in our cells, our nervous system, our brain and spirit.
Oftentimes, people don’t feel safe in their body, or know how to regulate their internal environment and then their brains follow, and their thinking is unclear and scattered.
You harmonize the cells in their body, regulate their nervous system and slow the brainwave state, and oftentimes, people feel safer and more themselves than they have ever in their life. I use the principles of healing to bring to people in their relationships as well.
Many of us are in a pattern that has been on repeat since childhood about what love is, what a relationship is and when you change the energy around that, change the pattern through changing your own frequency, you create a new life for yourself.
What’s your sun, moon and rising sign?
My fiance Candice had to remind me, but my sun sign is Sagittarius, my moon is Leo, and my rising is Cancer. It is amazing the amount of clarity I get when Candice tells me how certain characteristics of mine or habits are rooted in my moon, rising, or even my Mars.
So interesting! Do you use Astrology or Lunar Living in your everyday life or practice?
I am looking to do more of it. I have been studying how sound was used in ancient Egypt over this last year through Wesley Bateman’s work and others and see how much they referenced the cosmos and the planets. This is true of so many cultures that used this intuitive reading of the stars and planets as a way to guide the building of their architecture, design their lives, and move through the world. I am wanting to study this area more.
Candice is also huge on it and has been such an inspiration as almost everything she talks about in regards to people is sourced in their birth or natal charts.
What is Sound Healing? And how can frequencies help us heal our mind and body?
Sound healing is tuning ourselves to the frequency we were born at. We have an innate ability to sync up to any external rhythm or frequency. As energetic beings, we are all vibrating at a certain frequency. Anything that is alive is vibrating.
The problem is we go through painful experiences, stress, trauma, PTSD and our energy gets thrown off. We become imbalanced and then identify from this place of imbalance. When we take in healing frequencies, our bodies, our brains, our nervous system sync up to those external sounds and it brings us back into balance with ourselves, with the world.
What was your first encounter with sound as a powerful healing process and technique?

I have always been drawn to sound. I have been playing instruments since I was 14. I had a career in music but at a certain point, my personal life was in shambles and had a sort of breakdown. I had never known about using sound as a healing agent though until I went to a sound bath. It came at the perfect time in my life.
I remember after the sound bath feeling like I took an anti-anxiety pill. I felt so clear headed, so calm. I felt the effects but didn’t understand why. I kept going to classes and eventually decided to study sound healing.
Now, four years later, it is my work but also my passion. It is such an untapped wellspring of transformation and healing. It activates the parasympathetic nervous system, regulates hormonal functioning, cools down organs, slows down our brain, allows for clearer thinking and essentially returns us to our true self.
How did your practice change overtime? How did it change you?
It is always evolving. I stopped teaching at studios as much and now, focus on virtual classes, which I love. It allows the production end of me to come out because I add different music and healing tones throughout the sound bath and have learned to create a high quality virtual experience, which I had never done before the pandemic.
My technique also changed, I play in a softer, more calming way. The bowls or gong are relatively easy to learn but to play them well, requires skill. There is an art and subtlety to playing them.
More and more, I have learned to not play them from my hands but to play them from my being. The healing isn’t always in the sound of the bowls or gong but the space in which the sound happens. It is the environment that creates the healing. The more I am aligned and in balance, the deeper the sound goes. The deeper the sound goes, the greater the experience.

I love this idea of playing from your being, not just from your hands. You’re the vessel of healing! As spiritual light worker, how would you define the relationship you have with clients? What role do you play in their healing journey?
My clients often become people I am close to. When you go through a journey with them, or work with someone for 3,6 months, you become close. I love seeing people come into a space with me and end up in this much greater reality, become a fuller version of themselves. That is what gives me so much motivation and confidence.
It is also important to know, I am not doing the healing, that is crucial to understand. I am creating a space for healing to happen. If someone is resistant, it is not possible for me to bring them to a state of healing. The client or participant has to be open to receiving. If they’re open, if I am open, then the space is created and healing can take place.
I approach this work with high intention, low attachment. I am holding the highest vision for someone, and for myself but I am not attached to any one particular outcome. That would be me trying to push some sort of narrative and the greater story is when something beyond my understanding can come about. That is the magic.
You recently launched a program called “The Relationship Detox”, can you share a little more about it?
The most common problem in relationships I have found is people entering into unconscious relationships. Unconscious relationships bring out the destructive parts of each person. Oftentimes, people exist in these dynamics for years. The crazy part is, we are longing for closeness and yet are afraid of it at the same time. We desire something but don’t have the skill set or tools to get there. Most of us were never taught how to show up as our true, authentic selves.
The #YOU100 Relationship Detox is a course I co-created with my fiance to detox people from the patterns they have been repeating in relationships and come into a place where they can consciously co-create harmonious relationships. It is the deepest offering I have and comes from years of practice, of studying, and teaching.
What’s next for you? Any projects you’re working on you’d like to share?
I am currently creating a sound healing training program called Heal Yourself, Heal Others to help people learn how to use sound to heal themselves while also healing others. It should be out towards the end of the year.
Thank you Avi for answering these questions! I wish you, Candice, Liele and your projects the greatest luck for the upcoming times!
