Spirituality and Positive Psychology With Life Coach Soumaya Fikri
Spirituality is a key component in our overall wellbeing and mental health. As a matter of fact, many recent studies are now showing proof of what ancient spiritual doctrines and practices have known for centuries. These practices include astrology, meditation, mindfulness and much more. In order to dive deeper into this topic, I invited Spiritual Life Coach Soumaya Fikri to share her thoughts regarding spirituality and positive psychology.

Hello there Soumaya. I’m thrilled to have a fellow Moroccan light worker on the blog. Welcome!
Thank you! I’m so excited to have this conversation with you. I love how the spiritual Moroccan community is growing and light workers are claiming their magical powers.
First things first: what’s your big three placements? Sun, Moon and Rising?
I love answering (and asking) this question as it gives a good sneak peek into who the person is. I’m a Libra sun, Pisces moon, Virgo rising. Quite an interesting mix there!
An interesting mix indeed! Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I’m a 24 years old human being from Casablanca, Morocco. I’m a life coach and I help women take responsibility for their life and start embodying the most abundant, radiant, aligned version of themselves.
Spirituality is an essential component of our physical, emotional and mental health. I love how more and more people are awakening to this reality. Tell me, when did you first begin your spiritual journey? And what was the turning point for you to become a spiritual life coach?
I began my spiritual journey when I was 17. It started with me having an existential crisis and questioning everything I know about life and religion. I was also coming out of a long-lasting undiagnosed depression. I think it was inevitable to go on a journey of self-discovery which then became a spiritual journey.
Becoming a spiritual life coach wasn’t something I ever predicted doing. I actually didn’t even know that such a job existed until a couple years ago. What really drove me there is the desire to help other women go through what I went through with much ease and grace. I wish I had someone to guide me when I first started my journey, so I decided to become that guide for other people.
What are some of the benefits of working with a spiritual life coach? How do you assist your clients to better their life?
One benefit of working with a coach is accountability, it is much easier to stay on track with someone by your side. As for specifically working with a spiritual life coach, I would say the biggest benefit is getting personalized guidance, as there is so much information on the internet and social media that it can get misleading sometimes.
I make sure to provide my clients with the tools that actually work and to guide them to step into their fullest potential. I believe everyone has the answers they need inside of them, and I am here to make it easier for my clients to find those answers and act upon them.

Soumaya, what’s your advice for people who want to reconnect with their inner mystic and empower themself?
The first step is to take responsibility for your life. Own your story, own your past, own who you are now and take it from there. Journal a lot, meditate even when it’s hard, and connect with yourself through creative activity whether it’s painting, cooking, gardening, dancing or whatever that might look like for you.
I also highly recommend reading Women who run with the wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estés. That book is a bible in terms of reconnecting with your inner wild woman and reclaiming your mystical powers.
I believe women are the key to the New Earth we are trying to build. After centuries of disharmony and powerlessness between the divine polarities, women are slowly awakening to their strength. Some men are also part of this journey, holding space for these female warriors. What are your thoughts on this, especially coming from a patriarchal and dogmatic society like Morocco?
I think it’s about time we realize that it’s not about men vs women, it’s about supporting each other as we build this new reality.
To go even deeper, I think it’s about reconciling the divine feminine with the divine masculine inside each one of us. It’s the wounded feminine and the toxic masculine that has led us to harming the Earth and other humans in so many ways. If we manage to heal those energies within us, I believe the world will be a much better place.

As an attempt to contribute to the world’s harmony, I love to empower women through astrology and help them understand that they already possess all the tools necessary to thrive. What techniques, modalities and strategies do you find are most useful to empower the women around you / the women who work with you?
I love combining ancient spiritual knowledge that comes from indigenous cultures with modern scientific discoveries. That means the tools I help my clients include working with the chakras, ecstatic dance, neuroplasticity, meditation, and journaling.
On your Instagram bio, you speak of « positive psychology ». Can you please explain what this term entails?
Positive psychology is all about focusing on the good. It’s about focusing on strengths instead of weaknesses. And its aim is to improve your quality of life in general.
What are some of the ways you personally build and maintain your positive mindset? Do you have any favorite rituals or routines to share?
The most efficient way for me to maintain a positive mindset is gratitude. When you start focusing on the things you are grateful for, you automatically start attracting more things to be grateful for. It’s a virtuous cycle -as opposed to the vicious cycle of complaining.
So, every morning when I wake up, even before leaving bed, I think of at least three things I am grateful for and I really tune into that emotion. It’s usually very simple things like having food in my fridge or getting to live another day, but it really elevates my frequency.

I love having mentors to look up to and learn from, both in real life and online. Who are some of your personal mentors who inspire your path today and give you motivation to fulfill your success goals?
I’m currently working with the coach Roxanne Miranda and I love how she combines science and spirituality to help me bring lasting change into my life. I
also recommend checking Alexandra Roxo’s work as it has been deeply transformative for me. And lastly, Sah and Moun D’Simone for their fun approach to spirituality and Buddhism.
Last but not least, what’s next for you Soumaya and your business? Any upcoming offers you’d love to share?
I’m preparing something big and I’m excited to launch it very soon. It’s a three-week group coaching program to get clear on your vision, work on your limiting beliefs, and embody the wild goddess within. Definitely follow me on Instagram @la.soumaya and subscribe to my email list to be the first to know when it launches.
I also offer 1-hour individual coaching sessions for those who want guidance on a specific subject. Just send me a DM if that’s what you need. You’d be surprised how transformative one session can be.
From a Moroccan old soul to another, thank you for taking the time to answer these questions with us today. I hope your future is as bright as colorful as your smile. Blessed be!
