The Astrology of Love & Relationships with Linda Cui of Lindalignment
Astrology is one of my favorite tools as a spiritual seeker. Not only is it a map for self-realization, but it can also guide us when it comes to the matters of the heart. In today’s guest blog article, I invited fellow astrologer Linda Cui of Lindalignment in order to dive deeper into the astrology of love and relationships.
Linda’s mission? Helping spiritual romantics embody their authentic selves to thrive in healthy, soul-centered and long-lasting relationships. Furthermore, Linda is a great teacher who sure knows how to make astrology fun and practical. Let’s get to know her!

Hey Linda! I’m happy to have this chat with you today. Thank you for being a guest on the Living Simplyy blog. Can you please introduce yourself for the readers?
Thank you for having me! My name is Linda, and I’m a relationship astrology coach, specializing in helping people thrive in relationships as their authentic self through their astrology charts.
What’s your Big Three? What do these placements say about you?
I’m a Gemini Sun, Scorpio Moon and Capricorn Rising. My Gemini side loves to chat, to ask questions, and is infinitely curious about everything. My Scorpio Moon has to go straight to the depths. So I want to uncover every little secret of whatever’s piqued my interest, to get to the real stuff. Then finally, my Capricorn Rising is my workaholic side, so it’s how I’ve turn my passions into work!
I love how on your website, you say « It’s not magic, it’s astrology! ». Can you share with us how you first got into astrology, and how did it help you in your own personal love life?
I’ve been into astrology since I can remember! Since I was born in China, I knew about Chinese astrology, but it was probably through one of those magazines where I first found out about Western astrology. However, it wasn’t until 2019 that I found out there was more to astrology than just your Sun sign. I began to really study and practice it.
When it comes to my personal love life, astrology really has been the game changer. After getting out of a very unhealthy and toxic relationship where I was emotionally manipulated. I was cheated on (twice) and gaslit for over 4 years. I found myself continually dating people who were always unavailable in some way. Whether emotionally or literally (one of them had an on/off girlfriend, yikes!).
All I wanted was to find someone who was aligned with who I was and who wanted to be in a committed relationship with my true self. I got so fed up that I ended up turning to astrology. I’m someone who values practical, tangible evidence in whatever I do. While astrology is amazing for self-development, I wanted to see if I could use it to help me find love.
I started experimenting with how to externalize my chart to attract the exact type of person I wanted. Within 3 months, I had found him! It honestly blew my mind how fast I began to see results. I’m now in a relationship with my soulmate. He’s the love of my life! And I’m honestly happier than I ever thought I could be.
Your Instagram page, Lindalignment, offers tons of entertaining and educative content. As a relationship astrologer and coach, how is this digital tool helping you get your word out there?
I see a lot of astrology coaches, and a lot of relationship coaches. But not many who have paired the two together, which is how I personally found success in my own love life. Instagram has been so helpful for me to start showing people that astrology is more than just woo-woo horoscopes.
The only challenging thing I can think of is that astrology is so personalized and unique to each individual. This makes it impossible for me to share it all on Instagram! That’s why I love my 1:1 coaching work. I get to really dive into the nuances and intricacies of my client’s chart and tailor everything specifically for them.
By the way, do you have any favorite astrologers or mentors? Who inspires you the most lately within our community?
My own astrology mentor, Malena (@theastrologymom) – 100%. In the Chinese culture, astrology is almost seen as a holy grail that will tell you your exact future. This is something I never really resonated with. My mentor was the one who showed me how astrology can be used in conjunction with your free will. As a way to help guide your decisions in creating the future you want. She’s an absolute pro when it comes to navigating family dynamics through astrology.
Natalie (@soulshineastrology) is amazing too. Her podcast was actually what led me to dive deeper into astrology in the first place. It also helped me pinpoint my own gifts and talents! Her energy is so gentle, and the way she explains astrology is so practical and easy to understand.
I also love Amanda (@mindfulmagickmethod), because she’s so real and unafraid to share her perspective. Now that she’s moving from tropical to sidereal astrology, I’ve loved learning about the differences between the two from her content. It’s really opened my eyes to viewing different types of astrology from a totally different perspective.
As an astrologer, one thing I’m very fond of is deconstructing the negative woo-woo misconceptions most people have about astrology. As a fellow light worker and astrologer, what are some of the things that you wish were « unlearned » by the masses?
I have so many! But let me give you my top 3. First and foremost it would probably be that astrology is ‘fake’ because horoscopes aren’t true. I wish I could tell everyone that horoscopes (which are based on transits) don’t make sense unless you compare it with your personal chart. This is the only way to make it personal!
Second would be that certain signs are ‘worse’ than others (usually Geminis and Scorpios, my poor Sun and Moon LOL). There are two sides to every sign. I like to call it a ‘high road’ when you’re embodying the healthy traits; and a ‘low road’ when you’re operating out of compulsion with no awareness.
If you’re an earth sign, you’re probably like “oh my goodness I have to avoid the low road at all costs!”. That was me too, but let me tell you a secret – that’s impossible to do. We’re human, and we all have ups and downs. The trick isn’t to stay in our high road at all times. That’s like expecting you to be happy all the time. Instead, it’s simply about building the awareness to recognize when you’re in the low road. And learning how to then come back up into your high road.

Last thing on my list would have to be about compatibility. There are so many free compatibility websites out there. While I love that it’s getting people interested about astrology, I feel like it’s almost gotten to a point where compatibility is overly generalized into “sign X is/isn’t compatible with sign Y and therefore my relationship with them will/won’t work out”. Synastry (relationship astrology) is indefinitely more complex than that, and compatibility is always YOUR CHOICE.
First up, it’s about how your own chart was activated, and where you like to ‘hang out’ in your chart (what areas you’re comfortable in). Then, it’s about the way your unique chart and individual placements within your chart interacts with theirs. That dynamic can then be expressed in its ‘high road’ or ‘low road’. Nothing is ‘good’ or ‘bad’, it’s simply ‘easy’ or ‘hard’. It’s then up to you to see whether that’s a dynamic you’re happy with. It’s also about shifting some ‘low roads’ into’ high roads’!
For example, I’m a Gemini and my soulmate is a Pisces. We’re labelled as “incompatible” pretty much everywhere you look, but our relationship is healthy, soul-centered, and so loving.
Amen to that! Let’s talk more about the astrology of love! What are some of the astrological indicators that singles can look for in their birth charts to pinpoint their relationship style and ideal « type »?
Look to the line marked ‘DC’ on the right hand side of your chart – that’s your relationship line. Whatever sign that’s in is the sign that rules your relationships. This doesn’t mean you’re looking for someone who is that particular sign. It just means that the energy of this sign is what you feel pulled to within relationship, and it’s prominent in their chart.
You can also look to any planets in your 7th house, as well as any other signs that are in your 7th house, for a deeper understanding of the different flavorings that draw you in when it comes to relationships.
If you’re more advanced, you can also look to the planet that rules the sign that’s on your DC and where it sits on your chart. This planet is your relationship planet. The way you show up in relationships will actually mirror the energy of that planet!
I believe knowing ourself through a birth chart reading is key to better navigate this world and its journeys. Including love. But there’s another layer of understanding that many people ignore: synastry charts. How are these relationship charts beneficial?
I totally agree with that. Even when it comes to synastry readings, I go through each individual chart first. That’s because it’s important to see the expression of your chart on its own before we combine it with another.
But synastry charts are the real goldmine. It’s a secret shortcut to healthy relationships so you don’t have to go on all sorts of detours before you reach your destination. The best thing about synastry charts is the understanding and compassion it brings to the relationship which wouldn’t be there if you were just trying to navigate your dynamic in the dark. In relationships, it’s only natural that we take things very personally… The beauty of synastry is that it shows us that it’s really not about us at all.
Instead of fighting against each other in a “me vs you” mentality, you can really get down to the problem at hand. All of a sudden, “why are you shouting at me over such a small thing, now I’m going to yell at you too” becomes “I know you need to get loud when frustrated, so let me hold space for you to do that before we have a civil discussion”.
It truly allows you to build respect for each other and for your connection on a whole other level. You’re not understanding them as a partner in relation to you – you’re understanding them as who they are at their core. Instead of trying to turn them into someone they’re not just because they’re not ‘perfect’ enough for you, you actually get to honor them for who they are and fall in love with all their unique little quirks. This respect then carries through to every single facet of your relationship (communication, boundaries, sex, etc.).

This is wholesome! On another topic, I see a lot of people in the spiritual community finding refuge in astrology for the wrong reasons (fear of the unknown, unwillingness to do the inner work, etc). These same people can read the birth chart of their crush to filth, but not the red flags… Any tips for people in this situation?
Get yourself a reading! Just make sure that you do your research and it’s with an astrologer whose goal is to empower you and show you that all the answers you need are within yourself. If you’re booking with someone because you feel scared, don’t do it – you should feel excited.
I would also recommend astrologers who do live readings with you. It’s only through dialogue that we can really personalize your reading to see what messages you need to hear. No amount of online research is going to be as impactful as getting a reading. Think of it like investing in yourself and your own wellbeing and happiness.
My second tip would be to actually start studying astrology through a proper course. There’s so much information out there that misrepresents astrology, so it’s important to learn it properly and start to form your own understanding. Don’t give away your power to external sources!
My last tip would be to follow that fear, anxiety, whatever negative emotion you feel, to see where it comes from within you. What are you scared of? What’s happened in your past that made you scared? Look into doing inner child work or reparenting work, and hire a coach to guide you and keep you accountable!
What type of astrological « red flags » do you often see in toxic or unhealthy relationships?
A lot of them revolve around issues to do with insecurity, awareness and communication in one way or another. This can be lack of trust, no communication, controlling behavior, double standards, putting the other person down, etc. How it shows up in the relationship relates directly to the ‘low road’ of the placement, which is also where I’m able to see the path to healing it.
Usually, we’ll dive deeper into the placement to see why that’s happening – there’s always a reason behind the behavior. It’s important to note that 99% of the time, this behavior isn’t intentional; it was developed as a way to survive or cope.
There’s always an element of shame once their awareness is brought to it (no one likes to realize that their actions are hurtful). That’s why I never judge the behavior itself; instead, I spend a lot more time focusing on where that comes from and the paths we can take to move away from coping or surviving to actually living. Sometimes, we’ll even follow up with 1:1 work where they can really work through their challenges without the pressure of having their partner there.
Astrologically, do you see the incompatible elements and placements between individuals as opportunities to grow and challenges that can be overcome or indications that the couple may end up feeling hurt or wounded in the long run?
I definitely see them as opportunities and challenges that they can overcome and in turn can help to strengthen their relationship. But this is really up in the air when it comes to each couple, because it all depends on where they are individually in terms of their awareness and evolution. And whether they’re willing to put in the work.
That’s why all my readings are done live, because I’m able to dialogue with the couple and see their dynamic in action. This will guide me towards the aspect of their relationship they need to focus on. That aspect is like the gold at the end of a treasure map. As I listen to the couple, their charts actually begin to draw out the map for me. They show me what placements are challenged, how that shows up in their relationship, and also how to work with and overcome it.
What type of readings and sessions do you offer? For whom are these services?
I love to work with clients who want to find their happiness in love and are committed to their healing and growth. I offer private 1:1 relationship astrology coaching in my Aligned to Love program, where you’ll discover how you’re specifically designed to thrive in healthy love through practical, actionable steps I’ll guide you through. This is for anyone who’s looking to embody their authentic self in a healthy, loving, soul-centered relationship. Whether you’re single and looking for love, or you’re taken and looking to deepen your connection and intimacy, we personalize it so that you can achieve your specific relationship goals.
For single sessions, I offer 2 types. The first is a Relationship Astrology Session. This is a 1:1 session where you’ll discover what’s coming in your love life over the next 12 months, how to work with your #1 most important love placement, as well as the relationship themes that have been activated by your chart. This is for anyone who’s single or taken. If you feel called to work with me on a private level, this is actually the first step to see how our energies work together and whether I’m the right coach for you!
The second type is my Couple’s Astrology Session for couples who are looking to strengthen their relationship and gain deeper understanding and awareness of their connection. I dialogue with the couple together to see how they’re designed to work together to fulfill their relationship potential, and how they can best navigate the challenges, blessings and themes of their relationship. We do individual chart breakdowns first, before going into the combined synastry chart as well as a mid-point chart!
Last but not least, do you have any upcoming project you’re working on that you’d love to share with us? Where is Linda headed next?
I’m currently working on a self-paced course that’s designed specifically to help singles use their astrology chart to attract their soulmate! I modeled it very closely to how I used it for myself, picking out the most important placements to work with and understand. Since it’s quite challenging to make astrology fully personalized without actually having that 1:1 live interaction, I’m also including worksheets that are designed to help with further integration and that added level of personalization. I’m hoping to launch it around September or October!
From a soul-led entrepreneur to another, thank you for sharing your wisdom with us today. I wish you the best for the future, and I cannot wait to see, hear and read more of you! Blessed be!
If you want to explore the astrology of relationships deeper or consult for a synastry couple 1:1 session with her, I invite you to head over to Linda’s website or Instagram page.
Passionately yours,
Fatii
