Although some astrologers make every eclipse sound like a rare and scary event, eclipses serve a very important role in our collective and individual growth. So, what do Eclipses mean in astrology? And how can we survive the eclipse season 2021?
Eclipse symbolism: Embracing Change
The eclipse is a time of major revelations, with insights coming to the light, secrets resurfacing and unexpected events at every corner. A lot of people fear eclipses because of this unpredictability in the air. However, these unexpected things aren’t always negative. Yes, change can be uncomfortable, but it often comes with great rewards.
For this reason, eclipses are significant turning points in our life paths. Viewed by some astrologers as the annual “cosmic helping hands”, eclipses usher us towards change and take us at the gates of our comfort zone.
The good thing is that you can always trust the direction in which an eclipse is guiding you: it is all working out in the best-case scenario. Trust whatever is unfolding in your life and pay close attention to unexpected events that reveal to you the true colors of people or certain situations: they’re usually correct!
Think of it as Marie Kondo entering your messy bedroom and asking you to empty your closets and bring everything out in the open so that she can help you make sense of what needs to stay and what needs to go.
This eclipse is exactly like that: a seemingly chaotic time where we are forced to shine a light on what we’ve been hiding in our psyche’s dark corners, but a necessary step in order to reach more clarity and inner peace.
Now that you know what the eclipses represent symbolically, let’s take a look at the difference between a Lunar and Solar Eclipse.
The Lunar Eclipse is basically a sandwich with the Earth in the Middle, the Sun and the Moon at polar opposites. When the Earth is in the middle, it hides (for a few hours) the Moon, and the Sun casts on it a red hue or shadow.
In a nutshell, the Lunar Eclipse is like a Full Moon on steroids. So all the qualities, correspondances and symbolism of the Full Moon applies. To know what each Lunar Cycle represents, make sure to check my video on How to Manifest With the Moon Phases.
Before we continue, I want to make it clear that whatever unfolds in your life during this time or comes to the surface isn’t completely new. The issues or topics of interest usually stem from the last 6 month cycle, and they have been building up internally over time.
Not everyone will feel the effect of the eclipse with the same intensity. Check where each eclipse is happening on your birth chart, and if you don’t know how to read your birth chart, make sure to follow the link in my bio to grab my Free guide How to Read your own birth chart.
And, if you’re ready to go more in-depth and discover your natal blueprint, your strengths, your challenges as well as what you came here to accomplish in this lifetime, make sure to book your astrology birth chart reading with me today!
So, let’s take a closer look at the Solar Eclipse now. This happens when the Moon is midway between the Sun and the Earth. So basically, the Sun and the Earth are polar opposites.
In a nutshell, this is a New Moon, but much more intense. So, once again, all the symbolism of this lunar phase applies.
5 tips to survive the Eclipse Season
Now that you know what the Eclipses symbolically stand for and the difference between the Solar and Lunar Eclipse, let’s see how you can survive this season.
1- Trust the process
Don’t resist! Go with the flow and believe that everything is working out in the best case scenario. Even when life seems uncertain, focus on the lesson you can learn.
2- Listen to your intuition
Don’t feel like going out? Having doubts about someone’s motives? Feeling anxious and depleted after meeting someone for the first time? Trust those gut feelings, they’re your Spirit Guides and your Higher Self communicating with you.
If you need to work on strengthening your intuition, you can try divination techniques like tarot card reading to boost your receptivity, listen to your inner voice and reconnect with your inner mystic. My all-time favorite deck is this Rumi deck, an invitation into the heart of the Divine.
3- Pay attention to your thoughts
Pay attention to what arises to your consciousness, the thoughts, feelings and ideas you have during the Eclipses are usually key to your expansion and growth. One way you can do this is by keeping a journal where you can write down patterns, ideas, etc. I personally love this leather bound book of shadows that gives me witchy, “Charmed” vibes and aesthetic.
4- Have fun
Life is seriously too short to take it seriously!
